The Lenape Athletic Foundation (LAF), working in cooperation with the Lenape Regional High School District, announced plans to start a capital campaign to raise funds necessary to install a multi-sport turf field in the Driscoll Stadium located at Lenape High School on Hartford and Church Roads in Medford, NJ.
Installing a multi-sport turf field at Lenape will give our student athletes a professional turf surface, allowing them to train to be competitive with our surrounding communities. In addition to supporting the seven field-based teams at Lenape, recreational sport teams from Mount Laurel Township will benefit from this new field, allowing for community tournaments and festivals. Dawn Shelko, Lori Leonard, Stuart Yaffa and Tom Alfinito, all Lenape parents, will serve as the Executive Committee of the LenapeTurf Project.
With district approvals in place, the LenapeTurf Project has started fundraising. Corporate sponsors, community and alumni donations will be necessary to complete this project. Shelko states, “The Lenape District cannot appropriate funds for this project. We are counting on the support of our community to raise the $740,000 necessary to complete this project by the beginning of the 2016/2017 school year. We are also looking for electrical engineers, electricians, architects, attorneys and landscaping/hard-scaping professionals to volunteer their time and talent. With the community’s generosity, we look forward to improving the facilities at Lenape.”
